A fun and friendly cricket session designed for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, led by a Sussex Cricket coach.
Special Olympics Cricket is taking place at the Moulsecoomb Community Leisure Centre on Wednesday, 24th June 2026. The centre, located on Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton, BN2 4PB, will host this session as part of a wider, ongoing collaboration between Grace Eyre and Special Olympics Sussex. This partnership is designed to provide accessible sporting opportunities for people in the local area, specifically catering to adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. It is a practical example of the work carried out by Special Olympics Great Britain, a non-profit organisation that focuses on providing year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with learning disabilities.

The session is structured to be fun and friendly, focusing on the fundamentals of cricket in a relaxed environment. A coach from Sussex Cricket will be leading the session, guiding participants through the basics of the game. Because the focus is on creating an accessible and supportive atmosphere, the organisers have set out clear guidelines for those who might need extra help. If a participant requires one-to-one support, they will need to be accompanied by a parent or carer throughout the session. This ensures that everyone can participate safely and comfortably while learning the ropes of the sport.
Grace Eyre works closely with Special Olympics to coordinate these community sports programmes across Sussex. Their approach is to offer a clear pathway for participants, starting from initial, introductory levels and moving through to local, regional, or even national competition if that is the route a player wants to take. It is a structured way to get involved in sport, whether the goal is simply to have a bit of fun or to develop skills for competitive play. The session begins at 13:30, and tickets are priced at ยฃ5.39, a figure that includes the necessary booking fees.
