Dylan Young has a significant history in the Australian music scene, having played with bands such as Cool Sounds, Good Morning, Snowy Band, and Kankawa Nagarra. Through Way Dynamic, he explores a distinct blend of indie-pop, folk, art rock, and baroque pop. His third album, Massive Shoe, is characterised by a sound that is playful, understated, luminous, and textured. His songwriting style is often compared to the work of Brian Wilson and Nick Drake, defined by retro harmonies, delicate vocal delivery, and lyrics that oscillate between the sentimental and the absurd. His work has gained attention from other artists; Sir Elton John has stated that he cannot stop listening to the track Ibiza, while Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee described his song Miffed It as her favourite track in a long time.
The evening will also feature a performance from Liam Parsons. Like Young, Parsons is a member of the band Good Morning. His own solo project shares some of that band's DNA, though he describes his personal material as being slightly louder and longer in structure.
The event is open to those aged 14 and over, with the requirement that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Chalk is an accessible venue, equipped with adapted toilets and wheelchair access at the rear of the building. If you require specific assistance, such as access for a carer, help regarding strobe lighting, or if you need a seat due to difficulties with standing for long periods, the organisers recommend contacting them at info@lovethyneighbourmusic.co.uk to make arrangements. Tickets for the show are priced between £16.00 and £17.60, and they are available to purchase through platforms including Seetickets and DICE.
