Gentle yoga classes led by Ocean, suitable for all levels, held outdoors with sea views at Rottingdean Terraces.
Ocean starts a series of gentle yoga classes at Rottingdean Terraces on Saturday 27 June, running every Saturday until 26 September. The sessions start at 10:00 AM, and the whole point is the setting: you're practicing with a view of the sea, partly outdoors and partly under cover.

Ocean has been practicing and exploring yoga for over 26 years, and since 2013 she's been teaching Vajrasati Yoga, a style she describes as "cheerful and wonderfully accessible". She's taught it both indoors and out, and since 2020 she's run classes for an international community over Zoom. The sessions here invite a "light and friendly awareness", and you're encouraged to practice as "rested or dynamic as feels best in the moment". It's open to all levels and abilities, so you don't need any previous experience to join in.
One of the regulars puts it well: "Ocean's class is a highlight of my week. A time of calm and explorative yoga that can challenge if you want it to, or be more restorative if that is what suits you that day. The class varies each week with a great flow and a variety of postures. Ocean is very responsive to individual needs and delivers the session with professionalism and expertise."
On the practical side, you'll need to book your place, as a minimum number of attendees is required for the class to go ahead. If it's cancelled for any reason, you'll be notified by 10:00 AM on the Friday before. If rain is forecast, the call comes by 9:00 AM on the day of the class. Participation is voluntary, and you can modify or stop any exercise as you need; just let Ocean know about any health conditions or disabilities before you start. Arrive a little early to get settled, bring water, and wear comfortable clothes. You'll want a yoga mat — or something waterproof to sit and lie on — and a blanket or bath towel. If you don't have a mat, Ocean can lend you one if you email her at oceanamma@gmail.com at least a day in advance. The classes run every Saturday morning from 27 June to 26 September at 10:00 AM.
