Ian Levine’s history in the scene is extensive. He is credited with discovering key sounds for historic venues like The Twisted Wheel, The Torch, and the Wigan Casino. His work at the Blackpool Mecca alongside Colin Curtis is a significant part of that legacy. Beyond his DJ work, Levine has sold over 40 million records as a writer and producer. He has also dedicated much of his career to archiving the scene, producing various documentaries and leading the Motor City project. Colin Curtis, meanwhile, is noted for his influence on the evolution of the scene, particularly his later work in jazz-funk, soulful house, and electro. Seeing them back together offers a look at the roots of the movement they helped shape, and the event is aimed at those interested in the history of underground dance music and British club culture.
The session begins at 19:30. Standard tickets for this specific event are priced at £10.00. If you are planning to attend more of the programme, there are also 'Weekend Passes' available that cover all sessions throughout the three-day event. Tickets for both the individual session and the full weekend passes can be booked through www.ticketsource.co.uk/koko. The venue is located on Kings Road, Brighton, BN1 2GS. It is a chance to see two influential figures in the genre in a setting that is part of a broader celebration of rhythm and soul music in the city.
