The band formed in Minneapolis in 1985 and have spent the decades since establishing themselves as key figures in the Americana movement. Their sound is a distinct blend of country, folk, soul, Britpop, and rock 'n' roll, built around their vocal harmonies and a classic songwriting approach. Over the years, they have developed a substantial catalogue, releasing more than 12 studio albums and three live records. Beyond their own headline work, they have spent time on the road as a backing band for artists such as Ray Davies, Roger McGuinn, and Johnny Cash. They have also appeared at a variety of major festivals, including Farm Aid, Primavera Sound, Pinkpop, and Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky.
The current line-up features Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg, and Tim O’Reagan. They are currently working on new material, having collaborated with producer Bob Ezrin—known for his work with Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, and Lou Reed—on an upcoming album titled Sanctuary Park. This record is scheduled for release in late summer 2026, so the setlist will likely feature these new tracks alongside their established material.
The venue is located on Church Street, Brighton, BN1 1UE. It is an event open to the general public, though it is worth noting that anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The show starts at 19:00. Tickets are priced at ÂŁ36, though members of the Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival can save ÂŁ2 on the full price by logging into their accounts to access the member rate.
